See the collection of workout templates below. Various templates are available for both Google Docs and Sheets. I personally recommend you use Google Sheets versions since they offer more features and customization options.

Weekly Workout Template (V1)

This template allows you to create a workout plan for the entire week by selecting workout variables such as exercise, reps, sets, etc., using drop-down menus. It is more suited for beginner and intermediate trainees since it allows you to track only the total reps for all sets of a given exercise.

This one is similar to the V1 template but offers more workout-tracking options such as the ability to track reps and weights for each set. Therefore, this template is better suited for people who are already comfortable with workout planning, want more control, and ability to track results in more detail.

This is a simple Google Docs workout calendar that allows you to plan your workouts for the entire month. You can use it to track which days of the week you train, and when you plan to take rest days. It’s a useful tool that gives a high-level overview of your workout schedule for the month.

This is a simple, single-day workout program template. It contains space for you to write in the exercise name, number of sets, rest periods, reps, and weight for each set. Note that all data needs to be entered manually.

This is a one-page workout template that covers six days of the week. It’s best for people who people just starting out with workout planning, without too many workout details.

How to Create a Workout Plan in Google Docs

Creating a workout plan in Google Docs is easy. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the download form and enter your email address to get access to the workout template download page.
  2. Confirm your email address and you will be taken to the workout template download page.
  3. Click on the template download link you want to use and it will take you to Google Drive where you will need to make a copy of the workout template.
  4. Open the workout template in Google Docs.
  5. Start filling in the relevant workout information such as exercise, sets, reps, etc.
  6. Continue customizing your workout plan to meet your workout needs.
  7. Save the workout plan to your own Google Drive (e.g. in a folder of your choice) so you can access it anytime, from anywhere. Alternatively, you can print the workout plan and take it to the gym with you.

You’re all set! Now you can start following your workout plan in Google Docs and tracking your progress.

How to Create a Google Sheets Workout Plan

Creating a workout plan in Google Sheets is quite similar to creating one in Google Docs. The main difference is that the workout templates are in Google Sheets format.

Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Go to the download form and enter your email address.
  2. Confirm your email address and you will be taken to the workout template download page.
  3. Click on the desired template download link and it will take you to Google Drive.
  4. Make a copy of the workout template.
  5. Once the workout template is copied to your own Google Drive, it will get open in Google Sheets.
  6. Start filling in the relevant workout information such as exercise, sets, reps, etc. by using the dropdown menus.
  7. Continue to customize your workout plan to meet your workout needs. E.g. delete empty rows, if necessary.
  8. Once you are happy with your workout plan, save it to your own Google Drive – in a folder of your choice.

That was just a simple guide on how to create workout plans using Google Sheets.

How to Track Workouts in Google Docs

If you are looking to use a workout routine template to track your workout progress, then you’ll find Google Docs and Google Sheets tools very useful.

Here’s how you can track workouts in Google Docs after you have created your workout plan:

  1. Go to the gym and follow your workout plan.
  2. As you complete each set of an exercise, fill in the relevant information such as the number of reps, weight lifted, notes, etc. into the workout program.
  3. Repeat this process for each exercise in each workout session.

If you are using Weekly Workout Templates V1 & V2 (only available in Google Sheets), after following a workout program for a few weeks, you can also start analyzing your progress.

For example, go to the Performance Tracker tab and overview your progress by viewing the Volume Tracker table.

How to Share Workouts from Google Drive

Once you have created a workout plan in Google Docs or Google Sheets, you can share it with others easily.

Here’s how:

  1. Open the workout plan file from your Google Drive.
  2. Click on File > Share > Share with others.
  3. In the “Share with others” dialog box, enter the email addresses of the people with whom you want to share the workout plan. If you want, you can also add a message to the email.
  4. Click on Send.
  5. The people you have shared the workout plan with will now be able to view it, make a copy of it, comment on it, or edit it – depending on the permissions that you have set.

Alternatively, you can create a link to share your workout plans. To do that, simply click on Copy link in the “Share with others” dialog box. Once you have the link, you can share it with anyone – they don’t even need a Google account to view the workout plan.

Once again, depending on the permissions that you have set, they will be able to view, make a copy of it, comment on it, or edit the workout plan.
